DOE Energy Earthshot program highlights aerogel-insulated windows

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) just announced a new Energy Earthshot focused on affordable home energy. According to U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm, “The Affordable Home Energy Shot will focus the Department’s research and development efforts on the most promising next-generation materials and technologies to make energy efficient home upgrades accessible to all.”

On the list of innovative solutions highlighted for Building Upgrades are aerogel-insulated windows.

AeroShield Materials is a leader in developing transparent aerogels for windows, and it is incredibly exciting to see policy leaders recognizing the potential and need for aerogel-insulated windows to unlock high-performance, lightweight, affordable upgrades. We eagerly await the project proposals that come from this new Energy Earthshot program!
